I started today with the foot pegs and pedals as a goal. The right one (gear lever) is still attached\u2014mainly because the bolt\/nut is now perfectly round. Definitely on the replacement list. I even wondered if it was reverse thread (still trying to find out), but whichever way I tried, it just sneered at me. I&#8217;ll get later to the fact that the gear lever is on the right and the brake pedal is on the left.. total opposite from all our other bikes&#8230; hmmmm. The foot peg nut turned out to be reverse thread (thank heavens for small mercies). The brake pedal, though, came with its own bag of tricks. One wee nut had a cotter pin that had rusted in place\u2014took more finesse than a Glaswegian trying to eat soup with chopsticks. There is also the brake-light switch which is going to need some love and attention.. wonder if it was working in the end&#8230; at first glance I&#8217;d guess not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.brainwalkers.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/IMG_0236-Medium-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-288 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.brainwalkers.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/IMG_0236-Medium-rotated.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.brainwalkers.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/IMG_0236-Medium-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>Next came the sheet metal that holds the battery and assorted bits, which of course led me straight into battle with the shock absorbers. Those, in turn, demanded the fender come off, which politely insisted that the rear wheel had to come off first. This BSA clearly has a sense of humour\u2014every step feels like being told, \u201cAye, you <em>could<\/em> do that\u2026 but not until ye\u2019ve done three other jobs first.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looks like a bit of a bees nest in there.. but it and the brackets all came out ok.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.brainwalkers.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/IMG_0242-Medium.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-289 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.brainwalkers.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/IMG_0242-Medium.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.brainwalkers.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/IMG_0242-Medium-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.brainwalkers.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/IMG_0242-Medium-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>The upper bolts for the shocks were tighter than a Scotsman\u2019s grip on his last pound note. Just when I was about to admit defeat, my neighbour wandered by.
